Courtyard By Marriott Aravali Resort’s Cake-Mixing Ceremony sets the bar for festive fun

Cake mixing is a tradition dating back to 17th century Britain where families would gather to mix dry fruits, nuts, spices and alcohol to prepare for the Christmas season. The mixture would then be stored in airtight containers and used to bake delicious fruitcakes. Today, cake mixing has become a popular event in many hotels and restaurants, where guests can join in the fun and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
We attended the Cake Mixing Ceremony at the Courtyard by Marriott Aravali Resort held on 15 October 2023. Located an hour’s drive from the city of bustling Delhi, the resort recently hosted a lovely cake mixing ceremony that left us with a lasting sense of joy and connectedness. The event not only marked the beginning of the festive season but also showcased the culinary prowess of the resort’s kitchen team. Chef Shibendu Ray Chaudhury, the maestro behind the scenes, shared, “We used approximately 50 kg of dried ingredients that included cherries, plums, tutti frutti, apricots, prunes, almonds, cashews, pistachios, orange peel, candied oranges, golden raisins, and black sultanas .”
After the ceremony, the gastronomic journey continued in Glaze, the resort’s inviting coffee shop and bar. The evening unfolded with an exciting selection of cocktails, each concocted a testament to the creativity of the mixologists. From juicy citrus blends to subtly spicy concoctions, Glaze set the stage for a night to remember. As Shibendu Ray Chaudhury stated, “The response to the event was really good, which could be because people are now more confident about stepping out. As our hotel is an hour’s drive from Delhi, it was the perfect weekend getaway for some who decided to stay back even after the ceremony.”
For dinner, we ventured into Huang, the resort’s Asian culinary oasis. The menu, a harmonious fusion of traditional and modern flavors, featured dishes that were both visually stunning and flavorful. From the delicate dance of flavors in the sushi to the robust richness of the stir-fried noodles, every bite was a celebration of culinary finesse.
